Nikos Palaiothodoros
b 1990, Zakynthos, Greece
Nikos Palaiothodoros was admitted to the Department of Fine Arts at the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) in 2022, where he is currently completing his Master’s degree. He also studied Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). His architecture diploma thesis, completed in 2019 with a Master of Architecture degree, was ranked among the five most popular projects of the year nationwide.
His work focuses primarily on painting, while also exploring sculpture. It has an expressionistic aesthetic that combines elements of abstraction and representation, emerging through gestures and continuous transformations. He is interested in the moment when the act escapes control and chance becomes the basis, where personal experiences, memories, as well as references from texts and readings, come together for the composition of new images.
In addition, he teaches in the Department of Architecture at the Metropolitan College of Greece, where he is a Drawing Lecturer in the Foundation programme and the Bachelor Diploma in Art Design & Media Practice.
